Picture Perfect Cakes was formed in May 2010. As like any business it was built from a dream and passion. I have always had a passion for cooking and baking and have memories of always being in the kitchen from a young age.

After school I started studying through IHS and worked in two top hotels based in the Cape. As life does happen I found the hotel industry very different to what I expected and made the decision to rather go overseas to the UK where my passion took a back seat. I started working in the office environment for the next 5 years.

After I had my son and planned and catered for his 1st birthday I was reminded just how much I loved baking and cooking. We joked at the party about how I should open up a cake business as everyone raved about the cake and cupcakes I made. Well a month later I handed in my resignation and that is how Picture Perfect Cakes was formed.

We were lucky enough to land some great corporate clients as our first clientele and we have never looked back. We now supply a lot of the party venues in the Johannesburg area and our Google found clients have grown tremendously. We have many repeat clients who have literally been with us since we opened.

We originally operated out of a 10 square meter kitchen and dining room in our house. It was really challenging sharing a home with a business. In December 2011 we moved from the house in to our cottage on our property which we have converted in to a proper bakery.

I have an assistant named Blessing who really lives up to her name. She shares the same passion and has really caught on so quickly. She has been working with us since January 2012. She bakes all our sponges, prepares the icing and does all our edible picture cakes and cupcakes. She is really eager to learn and hopefully will soon be covering and decorating 2D and 3D cakes.

We have recently opened the bakery as a party venue where boys and girls can come and bake and decorate their own cupcakes, this is a huge step and we really believe that it will do well. We had our first party in March and hopefully it will be the first of many.
